Extra Bumps

Linus has chicken pox! I guess that vaccine wasn't a 100% guarantee. :(

She's handling it like a champ. She's one amazing child!

OH NO--Linus with chickey pops, huh? Poor kid! I got them, WITH A VENGEANCE, when I was 13. I'll bet Linus is being much more mature about it than I was! I'd gone through a very light case of them when I was two, so my Mom thought it was okay for me to still babysit at my "regular" babysitting job when the kids had the pox. Nope, if the first case is light, one CAN (and DID) get them again. Misery! This might sound kinda sick, but I think you'll know what I mean--I bet she looks kinda cute! :) Love you girls! And Army, too, probably--HAHAHAHA! Take care...e-mail to follow, even though I'll bet you're plenty busy! :)

Oof! I remember that baths with a little baking soda were supposed to help. I had a very mild case of them when I was 3 (before the vaccine existed) and don't remember anything about it, hopefully Linus will have the same experience!

I think that lots of ice cream are in order!

My mother had a cute idea when we had them.. best suited for a small child versus the very unsmall (can you read teenager here) child I was when I had them. I worked like a charm on my brother.

I am not even sure if they still want everyone to use calomine lotion on them but what she would do is use cotton balls and qtips to paint our faces with it.. even places where did didn't have the pox so that it turned out looking right but she would do like a clown face or a bunny or a kitty. Might work for Linus.

My oldest son had the cp first of my three.. the baby was 1 at the time he was 6. He had what I thought was a nasty pimple on his back, I am serious it looked just like a back pimple. One. So I popped it. He never got another bump so I never thought another thing about it. One week later the 4 year old and the baby were broke out to the hilt with them. He is 15 today never had them again thank goodness and he has been around kids with them. It was kinda funny when the younger kids got them it was the babies 1st birthday and I was throwing him a party and was going to cancel most of the kids invited were between 1 and 4 my friends all called and had me throw the party anyway with in one week they all had the chicken pox. (this was before the vaccine time) The parents did this so they could PLAN for the kids to get them instead of them having them at an off time.

I thought it was kind of strange but we all enjoyed the time off from work together!

Ewww! I had chicken pox but noone ever knew I had it including me. But I had shingles down the right side of my face that was misdiagnosed for three weeks as poison ivy by my peditrician. He didn't think t was something else at all even tho there was no itching but severe pain. It was either in or around my eye so my mom fiinally took me to my eye doctor, who was oncall at our local hospital which happened to be a trauma center, so he comes in with a bunch of residents, and barely made it paassed the door into the room an says, "Thats shingles" I hope she feels better soon.
